The End of Another School Year

As we finish the end of a very busy Summer Term and the end of another academic year, it is important to pause and celebrate all of our children's fantastic achievements. As well as the fantastic work that has been achieved by our community over the last year!

We have ended 2024-2025 with the best Year 6 SATs results, the school has ever seen! The children's achievements in this area are all above Dudley Local Authority averages and above National averages by a significant amount. This success is due to many aspects of learning that are building through school eg fantastic reading with a good basis in phonics and then increased motivation to read through accelerated reader. As well as the work we have done on fluency in maths and the consistent teaching of grammar, punctuation and a broad range of writing skills. And of course the amazing preparation that the children get from the Year 6 team as they tackle this milestone of tests! Thank you children, you have worked hard and we are very proud of you all!

Reading: 97% Expected 53% Greater Depth

Maths: 83% Expected 30% Greater Depth

SPAG: 83% Expected 53% Greater Depth

Writing: 80% Expected 10% Greater Depth

Combined RWM: 80%

93% of our Year 1 children also achieved the standard in Phonics and 75% of our Reception children achieved their end of year expectation.

Away from the academic lessons we have much to celebrate such as our children achieving the Diana Award for Anti-Bullying, our Yr5/6 Maths Team winning the Dudley Maths Competition, our Gymnasts reaching the Dudley final and the Yr3/4 cricket team qualifying and playing in the regional finals. Our choir sang at Young Voices 2025 and the Dudley Town Hall Concert at Easter and many other events, including the opening of our own carnival.

Our community has continued to support us at Maidensbridge with another fantastic Bonfire event and a Summer carnival! Two highlights of our year that are so important to bring the community together and raise important funds for school.

There are so many other highlights that we could mention but it would be a very long newsletter! Another brilliant year at Maidensbridge that has been full of success and enjoyment and everyone finding their own excellence.

We wish you all a fantastic summer with family and friends.

Well done everyone!

Toilet Update

Great news that our Year 2, 3 and 4 boys toilets have been completely refurbed! We have now managed to do 4 sets of toilets in school over the last 18 months and we will continue to make plans for the Year 2, 3 and 4 girls toilet and the Year 1 toilets.

The Green team - Wall Heath in Bloom 2025

Well done to the Green Team for continuing our work with the Wall Heath in Bloom team. This year they gave us a donation of £20 and a collection of seedlings, so that we could grow our own food! The team were challenged to grow their own tomatoes, beans, coriander and parsley and did an amazing job! Even in a heatwave! Sue and Amy visited this week to see how they had done and were very impressed with their efforts. Well done Green Team.

Sports Day

Well done to the green team for a fantastically won Sports Day this year! The points were close but the other teams could not catch you up! Thank you to all the adults who came to watch and who made this such a special event for the children. I would also like to thank the HSA for their tireless efforts in fundraising for school and providing refreshments for everyone on a very hot day, while also trying to make sure they could see their own children compete. This isn't always easy but we really appreciate you! Thank you.

HSA Carnvial

Thank you to the HSA members for putting together our Summer Carnival event and to our community for buying tickets, wristbands, tombola tickets as well as many £1 coins that paid for soak the teacher! It was fantastic to be able to show our school spirit to our local community and hopefully a good time was had by all. I know that this takes many months of hard work to put together but the money raised for the children is so crucial in the times we are in, to make sure we can continue with all the lovely extras that our children deserve.

The event raised just under £3000, which is a fantastic achievement by all. Thank you.

Year 6 Leavers

We would like to say goodbye and good luck to our Year 6 pupils.  You have worked hard towards your SATs and achieved your very best in all that you do. You have made fantastic contributions to Maidensbridge and we will never forget you! I would like to wish you all the best for the future as you leave us and move to the next chapter of your education.

We look forward to welcoming our new Reception children in September as they start their exciting educational journey.

Pre-School Graduation 2025

It was wonderful to watch our first ever Pre-School graduation this week, as our 4 year olds begin the next part of their journey either with us at Maidensbridge or elsewhere. The children confidently and proudly stood on our stage in front of all of their grown ups; singing and sharing their special first memories. Good luck everyone and we look forward to seeing 23 of you in our Reception class in September.

Congratulations

We would like to wish Mr Brookes a very happy and sunny wedding day, as he gets married in August this year.
